Blog Entry #2

This past week I traveled to Atlanta for 5 days and did some touristy things while my mom was at a conference for work.  There aren't too many barns in downtown Atlanta but I photographed architecture in the same style that I am with my barns.  For some of these photos I chose not to use my DSLR because I have found that sometimes it is nice to go out without a huge camera tugging at your neck. It can refreshing to simply push a button and have an image without putting any thought into the technical side of things.  I found that I spent more time exploring the subject.

While in Atlanta I visited the High Museum of art.  It has a little bit of everything but focuses mostly on American art.  When I get stuck creatively or get bored with a project I visit the art museum.  For me painting something to look realistic has always been a challenge and I admire those who excel at it.  Mostly, I love to see the way painters use light in a piece and how it has such a strong impact on the emotions of the viewers.

To my surprise they had a nice collection of photographs including work by Ansel Adams, Paul Strand and Alfred Stieglitz.

In the art museum gift shop I found an interesting way to display photos.  It may not necessarily work for my project but I like the concept.
